Happy Birthday, Lincoln! Jule’s Odd Tradition Revived

Körner’s Folly may particularly catch your eye this week, while driving down Main St…the house is decorated with red, white, and blue flags in honor of Abraham Lincoln’s birthday on February 12th!   An 1896 article describes an annual tradition at Körner’s Folly, where Jule Körner would hang American flags in honor of the 16th president’s birthday.  He would also hold a similar tradition on April 15th, Lincoln’s death date.  As a staunch Lincoln supporter, Körner requested his wife continue the tradition “as long in time as he has any posterity to bear his name.”
