Körner’s Folly Patch Program

The Patch Program allows Scouts to earn the official Körner’s Folly patch by learning about local history, Victorian culture, and the Körner family.  Requirements to earn this patch include: attending a puppet show and completing the Scout scavenger hunt.

To complete the patch, Girl Scout  and Boy Scout troops are invited to attend the monthly puppet show, offered on the fourth Saturday of each month (January – October) at 10:30am.  Following the puppet show, troops can take a self-guided tour and complete the Scout scavenger hunt.   Troops must contact Körner’s Folly staff a minimum of two weeks prior to the puppet show they plan to attend.  The cost to complete the “Körner’s Folly Patch” is $7 (plus tax) for registered scouts and registered Troop Leaders (this includes the puppet show, house tour, scavenger hunt, and patch).  Any additional parents or siblings accompanying the troop will be required to pay the regular admission fee.

Körner’s Folly offers a specialized private, guided house tour for pre-scheduled scout troop visits.  Private, guided scout tours last approximately 45 minutes and can be adapted to a variety of age ranges, badge requirements, and subject matter.  Though children are here to learn history, they will also practice other skills in a cross-disciplinary approach.  While touring the house, children will be asked to count and identify geometric shapes, make historical comparisons to today, and recognize change and continuity over time.  Private, guided tours can be scheduled in the evenings (Monday – Thursday) to align with normal troop meeting times.  Private, guided tours are available for groups of 20 or more and must be scheduled with at least 2 weeks advance notice.  The cost is $5 (plus tax) for registered Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and registered Troop Leaders.  Any additional parents or siblings accompanying the troop will be required to pay the regular admission fee.

Girl Scout Days

Two Girl Scout Days are held each calendar year, one in the spring and one in the fall.  The theme, activities, and badges earned for each event vary from year to year.  Past events include “Playing the Past” for Junior Girl Scouts and the “Körner’s Folly Patch Day” for Girl Scouts of all ages.  Email for information on the upcoming program.
