What volunteer opportunities are available?
Tour Guide – Do you enjoy storytelling and interacting with children, seniors, and everyone in between? You might become our next Tour Guide! Tour Guides lead at least four, 45 minute to 1 hour guided tour per year for scheduled groups on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays. The ability to climb multiple flights of stairs and a desire to share the Körner family history with the community is a must. Training is offered year round.
Greeter – Do you enjoy interacting with the public? Are you outgoing and friendly? Greeters are the friendly faces that meet visitors in the foyer of Körner’s Folly, take tickets, and give a short tour introduction. They serve a three hour shift at least twice a month during public tour hours. Training is offered year round.
Special Events – Do you have a flexible schedule that allows you to share your time and skills in support of a Körner’s Folly event? Special events volunteers might help with anything from preparations for the event to assisting staff during the event including taking tickets, parking cars, or facilitating an activity (varies from event to event). Besides our needs, opportunities are based on your time, interests, and skills.
Puppeteering – Are you be interested in being part of cast that requires no memorization of lines? The Körner’s Folly puppeteer program might be right for you! Puppeteers perform puppet shows to a prerecorded soundtrack on the fourth Saturday of the month, February-October, and for school groups throughout the year. We will provide the script and soundtrack, and teach you how to handle the puppets – all you need is a positive attitude. Must be at least 8 years old. Training is offered in January.
