KERNERSVILLE, NC—Historic Körner’s Folly, 413 South Main Street, is celebrating National Historic Preservation Month. May is Preservation Month and preservation organizations, both large and small, will take the time to celebrate history and historic places. This year’s theme is “See! Save! Celebrate!” This May, the Körner’s Folly Foundation is asking you take a moment to appreciate the local historic environment and the efforts of those who make historic preservation possible.
We encourage you to take a few moments this month to think about how history touches your life. Does grandmother’s quilt bring back fond memories? Does the Historic Train Depot transport you to another time? Do you love the historic small town feel of Kernersville’s downtown? Share your stories by uploading your favorite photos or memories of historic places in Kernersville and Forsyth County to Körner’s Folly’s Facebook page. Post about your favorite memories at historic buildings, parks, and grounds to inspire community preservation and historic interest!
This May, Körner’s Folly has a special reason to celebrate National Historic Preservation Month. We are pleased to announce we have now raised $100,000 of our $150,000 restoration goal. These funds are part of an on-going challenge campaign to restore and preserve Körner’s Folly’s roof. In addition, we are thrilled that within this past year, Körner’s Folly has received a new foundation as well as extensive preservation work of all three porches. In keeping with Körner’s Folly’s devotion to historic preservation, we encourage you to explore your own community, and tell us what you find!
