May is Historic Preservation Month

May is Historic Preservation Month: Celebrate at Körner’s Folly

Körner’s Folly is a must see destination this spring. Over the past couple of months, the Körner’s Folly Foundation has been busy with spring cleaning and ramping up for the next stage of interior restoration. Our tours are the perfect family friendly outing, and a great experience for all ages.  Visit our website here for printable scavenger hunts, brain teasers, and crossword puzzles, and more, to supplement your tour!

Join us this May as we celebrate Historic Preservation Month! We will be participating in the National Trust for Historic Preservation This Place Matters campaign.  This May, tell us why historic preservation is important to you!  What historic places matter to you? Download your own This Place Matters sign and take a picture at a historic place that is important to you.  Upload it to Twitter, Instagram, or Facebook using the hashtags #ThisPlaceMatters and tag @KornersFolly.  We will share local photos. While on tour at Körner’s Folly, we will have signs available for you. Take a photo in your favorite room and share it with us! For more information on the This Place Matters campaign click here.

We are also holding a special event this May as part of our new Victorian Parlor Series.  On Tuesday, May 23 @ 6:30pm, Benjamin Briggs, Executive Director of Preservation Greensboro, will talk about Historic Preservation initiatives in the Piedmont Triad.  And what is a Victorian Parlor Event, you ask? Körner’s Folly is planning an exciting new adult program series for 2017 – 2018. While sipping, snacking, and socializing, explore a variety of exciting topics related to Historic Körner’s Folly and popular art and culture of the Victorian era.  Buy tickets and read more about it here.

And be sure to check out these other Historic Preservation events all over Forsyth County this May: Calendar 2017
