If you can’t make the trip to Munich this year, don’t worry. You can enjoy the next best thing, right here in the heart of the Piedmont Triad: Historic Körner’s Folly’s 3rd annual Kernersville Oktoberfest! On Saturday, October 12th from 4-7pm, the lawn at Körner’s Folly, 413 South Main Street, will abound with German-inspired beer, wine, and food. The annual beer and wine tasting fundraiser benefits the Körner’s Folly Foundation’s mission to restore and preserve Körner’s Folly for the education and enjoyment of the public.
Once again, the local community has shown Oktoberfest overwhelming support! BB&T, PuraVida Promotions, Highland Industries and other local businesses have stepped up to help keep Körner’s Folly open. “It is important for us to be involved with the Kernersville Oktoberfest celebration because it is a community event, supporting a great community cause,” said Linda Turlington of PuraVida Promotions. “Körner’s Folly is Kernersville and we are proud to help!” Local restaurants will also get in on the action by volunteering their time and energy to have delicious German-inspired goodies on hand for sampling. The spread this year is our best yet. Bratwurst on the grill, German potato salad, pumpkin cupcakes, and East Coast Wings and Grill’s pretzel sliders with apple smoked pork and a side of chips are just a few of the mouth watering options! Julie Jones of J. Pepper’s Southern Grille writes, “As one of the original sponsors and organizers of Kernersville Oktoberfest we are so thrilled to see the continued success and growth of the event. We have a lot of fun every year. It’s a great time to see your neighbors and enjoy some of the best foods Kernersville has to offer. Look for our German Potato Salad again this year!”
Craft beer enthusiasts can especially get excited for this year’s celebration. In addition to great seasonal brews by R.H. Barringer & Anheuser-Busch, this year’s event will also feature 2 local breweries: Foothills Brewing Co. and the newly opened Hoots Roller Mill Brewing Co. Attendees can look forward to sampling German, Oktoberfest, and Pumpkin brews!
Admission is $30 per person and includes unlimited food and beverage. You can purchase tickets here before September 28th to receive $5 off! Vendors will begin serving promptly at 4 pm, but there’s a reason to come early—admission also includes a FREE tour of Körner’s Folly. Attendees can tour the remarkable house their ticket helps to preserve! The house will be open for tours from 10 am-4pm on the day of the event.
