Körner's Folly Kicks Off Annual Fundraising Campaign - Folly raises funds to assist with structural renovations
"The house is in need of considerable repairs to the foundation
and flooring system in order to maintain its present state for future
generations to enjoy," says Director Connie Martin. "We are
still in the process of assessing specific costs for these repairs,
but it's safe to say that short-term restoration costs will be in the
hundreds of thousands of dollars." "You can see the effects of time everywhere throughout the house.
It has stood up remarkably well through the years, but we are now approaching
a critical period for the Folly," says Martin. John Coulter, Chairman of the Foundation Fundraising Committee, adds "We are excited about the potential impact of this campaign for the ongoing renovation of the Folly. We know that many people think of Körner's Folly as the landmark of Kernersville, and we hope that local businesses and residents will come to its financial aid." The campaign is scheduled to run through June. If you are interested in supporting Körner's Folly, please contact Director Connie Martin at 996-7922. _______________________________________________________________ Built in 1880 by Jule Gilmer Körner, Körner's Folly is often referred to as "The Strangest House in the World" because of its unique architecture. The home is now held by a non-profit foundation and is open to the public for tours year-round: 10-3 Thursday, Friday & Saturday; 1-5 Sunday. ###
